Startup Weekend vous invite à créer une startup en une fin de semaine. C’est 54 heures d’apprentissage, de savoir faire, et de divertissement, tout en faisant de nouvelles connaissances professional et vivre une experience unique. Tous les événements Startup Weekend suivent un même modèle de base: tout le monde est invité à présenter son idée de démarrage et de recevoir des commentaires du publique. Des équipes se forment organiquement autour des meilleures idées (tel que déterminé par le vote populaire) ensuite c’est suivie de 54 heures frénésie de création de modèle d’entreprise, de codage, de conception et lde validation du marché. Le week-end s’achève avec des présentations devant des chefs d’entreprises locaux , une autre occasion pour les commentaires et les critiques. Que l’entrepreneur fonde son entreprise, trouve un co-fondateur, rencontre quelqu’un de nouveau ou developpe une competence hors de sa routine de 9 à 5, tout le monde est assuré de quitter cet événement mieux préparés à naviguer dans le monde chaotique, mais amusant, des startups. Festival international du Startup

L’édition d’été du Startup Weekend est crée en collaboration avec le Festival international du Startup. Profitez de la temperature éstivale, l’air de fête et mieux  connaître la communauté  de démarrage startup de Montréal.

Dave McClure (Keynote)

Dave is a venture capitalist & founding partner at 500 Startups, an internet startup seed fund and incubator program in Mountain View, CA. He likes to hang out with entrepreneurs, and occasionally invest in startups foolish enough to let him. He has been an investor in over 250 companies including, Twilio, Wildfire Interactive, SendGrid, TaskRabbit, SlideShare, Mashery, CreditKarma, KISSmetrics, and MakerBot, among others. Dave has been geeking out in Silicon Valley for over twenty years, and has worked with companies such as PayPal, Founders Fund, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twilio,, Simply Hired, O’Reilly Media, Intel, & Microsoft.

Years ago he used to do real work like coding or marketing or running conferences, but these days he mostly does useless stuff like sending lots of email, blogging, and hanging out on Facebook and Twitter.

Ian Jeffrey (Panel Moderator)

Ian is GM of FounderFuel and Venture Partner at Real Ventures. Originally from Montreal, he spent many years in Silicon Valley, and it was there in 2006 that he launched Radar (the first mobile photo sharing social network) when he was VP of Marketing and Communications at Tiny Pictures. Among many other awards, Radar was recognized as “Best Mobile Social Networking Service” by the Webby Awards. After the acquisition of Tiny Pictures by Shutterfly, Ian joined the team as Director of Marketing of its mobile and social team. There he launched Wink, a mobile service that lets users create photobooth-style prints directly from their iPhone using photos from Shutterly, Flickr and Facebook.

Ian started his career in 2002 at Nomad, Cossette Communications’ Street Intelligence Agency. There he pioneered word-of-mouth marketing and applied ethnography tactics, as well as next generation insight mining. Nomad clients included Nike, Coca-Cola and McDonald’s.

Stéphane Marceau (Panelist)

Stéphane has been building technology and communication businesses for more than 15 years. He was co-founder and CEO of Theralive, a small firm specialized in mobile health applications and services, and was co-founder and CEO of Mobivox, a global mobile VoIP platform.

In addition to being a repeat entrepreneur, he served as Bell Canada’s Vice President where he built and grew new lines of business including the company’s e-commerce group. He was also Chief Marketing Officer of Yellow Media, where he led the development and marketing of digital and mobile products for platforms such as, LesPAC, YellowAPI, AutoTRADER and Mediative.

Stéphane holds a master’s degree in Management of Technology from the University of Waterloo and a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the Université du Québec à Montréal.

Mike Silagadze (Panelist)

Jeff Magnusson is the CEO of Playerize, a Vancouver and San Francisco-based company that manages a worldwide growth and monetization platform for game developers and advertisers. He and his co-founder Lyal Avery have grown Playerize to reach more than 600 million impressions a month and just over 20 employees, completing their first acquisition in 2012 of Super Rewards, an industry leader.

Prior to Playerize, Jeff was the COO of social game studio dimeRocker, consulted with several non-profits on their social engagement strategies, and served as a mentor to a number of Canadian startups.

After founding his first company at age 20, an online payment processor, Jeff bootstrapped it through ten years of growth and into a successful exit in 2008.


Brant Cooper

Leslie Jump

She is a Partner in Sawari Ventures, LLC, a Cairo-based early stage venture capital firm investing in entrepreneurs across the Middle East/North Africa. She coaches and mentors emerging technology entrepreneurs, providing them with business and operational expertise. She also advises graduates of Flat6Labs, Sawari Ventures’ dedicated startup accelerator for seed stage investments.

Greg Isenberg

Cynthia Savard Saucier

Cynthia Savard Saucier, B.D.I. is a graduate from the University of Montreal with a diploma in Industrial Design. She was awarded the Raedium award in 2010 for Chouette!, a project with the goal of developing a communication platform to reinforce intergenerational similarities in the use of different technologies.

Specializing in multi-platform interfaces user experience, she possesses a real expertise in the conception, ergonomics and resolutions behind a project. Her creativity and expertise was used to reinvent complex interfaces in several projects, including web, mobility, and non-standard interface design.

Cynthia is also invited to speak at a multitude of events, where her fun approach seduces and surprises the audience.

Christian Lavoie

Beth Thouin

Mathieu Perreault

Mathieu Perreault is a graduate of McGill University, where he obtained a Masters in Computer Science. With Google since 2010, he has been constantly travelling between Silicon Valley and Montreal, contributing to the company’s growth.

Mathieu has previously worked on Mobile Ads as well as Google Wallet, an innovative way to pay with a mobile phone. His academic research on social networks and text classification gives him a unique perspective on the future of our world.

Suresh Bhat

Matt Roberts

Derek Jen

Derek Jen has been involved with startups since 2006. He is currently the Senior Product Manager at #engagementlabs where his focus is social media analytics. Derek has focused most of his career towards helping companies grow via operational excellence.

His latest startup initiative is his eight-month-old daughter.

Ludovic Dumas

Ludovic transforms innovative companies into world-class organizations. He is an Associate at Claridge, an investment firm representing the interests of one of the most successful families in Canadian business. Before joining Claridge, Ludovic was an investment banker at CIBC and with ING Group’s investment banking team in Frankfurt, Germany. Ludovic acted as a trusted financial advisor to over 40 Canadian and international businesses. He was responsible for the execution of corporate acquisitions, divestitures and capital raises involving public and private companies. Ludovic is very active in Quebec’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Most notably, he led the turnaround of a provincial non-profit initiative and managed a team of 50 volunteers that created a North American first: the Angel Investors Challenge. Mr. Dumas was also a management consultant with Deloitte where he worked on corporate strategy, restructuring, market analysis, due diligence, and economic development mandates.

William Hoang

Application Developer Advocate, BlackBerry   |   LinkedIn

William graduated from McGill University with Bachelor of Electrical/Software Engineering while minoring in financial statistics. He journeyed from Research In Motion working on GPS development to being Windows Phone developer evangelist with Microsoft and is currently shaking the BlackBerry bush as a developer advocate focusing on social integrations and partner engineering.

William’s focus is on mobile user experience development, defining valued startup project opportunities and milestone execution points. End user feature oriented with strong emphasis on product design and building/advising engineering teams. He led the engineering team to a Canadian 1st place finish for Microsoft’s Imagine Cup engineering competition in Embedded Software Design category.
